About Company
NIBIO Svanhovd Visitor and Conference Centre: Nature, History, and Arctic Serenity
Nestled in the heart of the scenic Pasvik Valley, 40 kilometers south of Kirkenes, the NIBIO Svanhovd Visitor and Conference Centre offers a unique combination of research, nature, and hospitality. Surrounded by lush Arctic landscapes, this destination is perfect for those seeking tranquility, knowledge, and authentic experiences.
What We Offer:
-
Unique Visitor and Conference Centre
As part of NIBIO, a project-driven research institute with 15 stations across Norway, Svanhovd is the only location combining a Visitor Centre and Conference Centre. It’s surrounded by stunning nature and a rich history, making it an ideal venue for meetings, exhibitions, and retreats. -
Botanical Garden and Local Food
Our botanical garden, one of only three north of the Arctic Circle, grows fresh vegetables, herbs, and berries. These seasonal ingredients enhance the culinary offerings of our kitchen, which focuses on short-traveled and local food such as pike, perch, and reindeer. All meals are served buffet-style, and our open kitchen lets you interact with the chefs preparing your food. -
Comfortable Accommodation
Stay in one of our 41 well-equipped rooms, accommodating up to 50 guests. All rooms feature private bathrooms, and guests can enjoy access to amenities like a fireplace lounge, TV lounge, sauna, and laundry room. Complimentary coffee, tea, and entry to the Visitor Centre are included for overnight guests. -
Exciting Exhibitions and DarkSky Park
The Visitor Centre highlights the Pasvik Valley’s rich biodiversity, focusing on the brown bear, virgin forests, and unique bird and animal species. In July 2024, Øvre Pasvik National Park became Norway’s first DarkSky-certified park and the northernmost in the world. This certification aims to preserve the natural night sky by limiting light pollution, providing exceptional opportunities to experience the stars and Northern Lights during autumn and winter. -
Northern Lights and Stargazing
With minimal light pollution and a roof terrace designed for stargazing, NIBIO Svanhovd is an excellent location to observe the Aurora Borealis and the wonders of the Arctic night sky.
