How to Get to Kirkenes

Kirkenes Høybuktmoen Airport (KKN) offers daily flights from major Norwegian cities like Oslo and Tromsø. Starting summer 2025, Finnair will operate flights from Helsinki via Ivalo to Kirkenes.
Airport Bus: From the airport, you can take the airport bus (flybussen), which departs for every arrival. For the schedule, visit Barents Buss.

By Road

You can drive to Kirkenes from various locations in Norway and Finland. From Nordkapp or Alta, follow the E6 northeast through stunning Arctic landscapes. From Finland, drive from Ivalo or Rovaniemi and cross the border into Norway. The roads are well-maintained, but remember to check weather conditions during the winter season.

By Sea

Travel along Norway’s iconic coastline with Hurtigruten or Havila. These cruises provide an unforgettable journey to Kirkenes, passing through fjords and picturesque villages.

Via Finland

You can reach Kirkenes through Finland by driving from Ivalo or Rovaniemi. Starting from Ivalo Airport (IVL), continue by car, private bus, or taxi, crossing the border into Norway.
