Arctic Backyard Running Event on June 29, 2024
Attention, runners and outdoor enthusiasts! Mark your calendars for Saturday, June 29, 2024, as Kirkenes hosts the exciting Arctic Backyard running event. This unique race offers various distances to cater to all levels of experience, from one-mile fun runs to the ultra-marathon challenges, providing a perfect blend of competition and scenic beauty.
Event Overview: The race kicks off from the warm shelter provided by the Kirkenes and Vicinity Ski Club (KOS) and takes participants along a picturesque route that winds around Andrevann lake. The course features a combination of asphalt and gravel paths, ensuring a dynamic running experience.
Participants will tackle laps of approximately 6.7 kilometers each, starting the first lap at 12:00 PM. Successive laps will commence at hourly intervals, and runners must finish each lap within the hour to progress to the next round, with a maximum of 12 laps.
Enjoy a Strategic and Social Race: The Arctic Backyard encourages a strategic approach to racing—fast runners can take advantage of breaks between laps in a warm shelter, while steady pacers can conserve energy throughout the race.
